République démocratique du Congo

1. Political side of the art
This work of art is not just exposition of the political situation of The Democratic Republic of the Congo and widespread throughout Africa and the Third World status. Large companies often acquire via a number of sub-contractors the rawmaterials and labor. In this illustration case the business sector is electronics industry and not the notorious oil business. Money does not go to ordinary citizens, but to foreign countries. When it goes to the departure state it goes, unfortunately, often to armed groups to maintain war. Rape and killing of civilians is one form of warfare. Corrupt and the rich businessmen and politicians take a thick slice of the revenue. To education and building of society and infrastructure goes crumbs of the whole cake of capital.
I opted for a model company Finnish Nokia because I am a Finnish citizen, Nokia tries to create the image that they are warm, humane and ethical company - Nokia Connecting People and Nokia logo is aesthetic and minimalistic. Political Art but not limited to politics.
2. Symbolism of the art
Growth and development comes at a price they say. Everybody (They who do not have access to better) have to start just on the bottom they say. Capitalism fixes itself they say. Victim status, rulers and the ruled, exploiter and the exploited, hope and hopelessness, options and no options or one option are really interesting abstract and human symbols. The only way to study them is to watch them in action or in the form of art (fiction).
If you make the political art aesthetic, beautiful, sexy, fetish, erotic, pornographic, voodooistic and superficial in the sense that the surface is polished as pleasing as can to the eye and the brain - does it make the art hypocrite, exploiter, cruel, unethical, corrupt, and bad art?
In the work of art are conventional symbols like flowers, butterflies, spiders, birds, a crucifix, predators, many eyes, weapons and so on. The symbols have their usual (and unusual) symbolic significance but they do not control or determine image alone but participate in the debate with the symbols own tone and among the contributing factors are creating image for their part.
